SPAR Torry in Aberdeen, Scotland invited local young designers to submit a picture to give the internal front of store wall within the store a brand-new fresh look.

The SPAR store offered the winner a £100 SPAR gift voucher, plus the winning design to hang in the store.

The design brief looked for entries from talented young designers in the area to help freshen up the white wall at the front foyer of the SPAR store.

The winner has now been chosen and today, Leyla Paterson, age 9, has her winning design proudly displayed in SPAR Torry.

Garry Brailsford, Area Manager for SPAR Scotland said: “With over 500 customers coming into our store in Torry every day, this has been a fantastic opportunity for a budding young artist to receive recognition for their talent.

We had a lot of entries, and we are delighted that Leyla’s picture got chosen. We loved her slogan ‘no matter if you’re near or far, come to your local SPAR’.”

Leyla added: “I saw posters on my board and school primary website about the competition and I thought it looked quite cool, so I tried it out. I love drawing and I am always doing something at school or home whenever I get the time. I was so happy and surprised when I heard I had won!  I enjoyed spending my prize money on treats for my mum, toys for my brother and loads of snacks!”

The entire design is 2640mm by 5280mm in size and incorporates the stores passion for Scotland, favourite products, and brands available in-store including Leyla’s favourite treats!

“It is always exciting to see what our customers think of our stores and by using designs from local school children to revamp the front of store area, it has allowed us to connect our store to our local community in Aberdeen as well as showcasing Leyla’s amazing talent,” added Garry.
